Students enrolling in NYU@NUS will spend 10 months (with an optional additional two month period of residency) in Singapore during which period they will work towards an LL.M. in Law and the Global Economy from NYU, in all respects substantively equivalent to the LL.M. degree awarded in New York City. Concurrently, and through an integrated curriculum, students also study towards an NUS LL.M. degree. Students completing the dual degree programme will therefore graduate with two distinct LL.M. degrees. Building on their dual degree, students will be offered the opportunity to complete a 4-8 week internship in a law firm, corporation, government entity, or NGO in the region. Internship opportunities will be made available starting in March, after the completion of academic study. Students will also be offered the opportunity to enrol in courses taught in Shanghai available through a joint programme of NUS and East China University of Politics and Law (subject to Chinese immigration approval).
The theme of law and the global economy is the academic underpinning of the NYU@NUS LL.M. degree and all course offerings relate to this broad topic. Some students will elect to enrol simply in the Law and the Global Economy LL.M.; others may elect to pursue the degree building in one of the two optional concentrations: U.S. and Asian Business and Trade Law or Justice and Human Rights. All graduating students of the programme will be awarded an LL.M. degree in Law and the Global Economy, and if a concentration was pursued, this will be reflected in the degree.
