Graduate Admissions
The Graduate Division of New York University School of Law is among the largest and most intellectually diverse in the nation. The general goal of graduate studies in law is to enable students who have already earned a first degree in law (J.D. or LL.B.) to enhance their theoretical understanding and to develop their professional skills to the fullest degree. You may wish to view what two LL.M. students from the Class of 2007 said as they shared their thoughts of the NYU School of Law experience in their convocation speech.
The Graduate Tax Program has recently launched a new part-time degree program, the Executive LL.M. in Taxation (E-LL.M.) The E-LL.M. program is designed to accommodate legal professionals who cannot travel to and be present on campus for all 24 credits of the part-time LL.M. in Taxation. (In fact, all but two of the required 24 credits may be earned online and off-campus.) The program awards the Master of Laws from NYU's Graduate Tax Program.
In addition to the general LL.M. program, there are specialized graduate programs offered at the NYU campus in New York City in corporation law, international legal studies, trade regulation, taxation, and international taxation. We also offer an innovative dual-degree program offered at the National University of Singapore (NUS), predominately taught by NYU School of Law faculty. Students in the NYU School of Law and NUS Dual Degree Program (NYU@NUS) earn an LL.M. in Law and the Global Economy. Completion of the NYU LL.M. in Singapore will also count toward a second LL.M. degree from NUS.
The J.S.D. degree program at NYU School of Law provides intense training in academic research to those intending to pursue a career in academia. The program prepares students to produce first-class scholarship and to secure teaching positions in the U.S. and around the world. The commitment to this mission makes NYU School of Law one of the best points of entry into legal academia worldwide.
